87 (Obligatory New Year's Post, 2011 Edition!)

So this is the new year.  And I feel plenty different.

How's this new year treating me?

Well, first, let's reflect on how the last year treated me.  Remember when I said I was going to take 2010 and make it my own?  That didn't really happen, as you all know.  Between the February From Hell to the Prom From the Place Down the Road From Hell, it wasn't exactly optimal.  So anything's a step up from last year.

But this year seems better than average, which is a rather undefined statement by itself.  How does one define the quality of a year?  How can one tabulate the value and quality of a year that they don't really remember all that well?  2002 doesn't really stick in my mind, while 2001 was one hell of a ride.

Anyway, I'm getting off of my track.  2011 is fantastic, so far.  We're actually 18.6% through it already, but it doesn't feel like it.  It's still got so much left.

I have such a better disposition now than when I posted Monster/Suicide/America.  Oddly enough, that post got me the most comments I've ever gotten on this blog.  A whopping six, but that's freaking amazing considering it's mostly while rantings by a teenager with nothing better to do than complain about how his psyche isn't working that day.  But to the many readers I do have, thank you for reading and caring.  Your comments mean a lot to me, even if I don't reply to them.  I do read them.

I feel different.  Sara was wrong.  Turning 18 changed me, I think.  I feel so much more mature, more able to deal with things that come my way.  Each day, I feel a little bit more experienced with the world and what I have to deal with in it.  Each day, I feel more and more inspired to create.  To contribute.  To change.  Life is so interesting.

I'm so chill right now.  Life is good, more or less.  Especially if you round up.
